Yoga OfferingsSchoolYoga Institute teaches Sadhana yoga, a spiritually grounded practice. We believe yoga transcends physical practice and is ultimately a vehicle for spiritual insight.
Sadhana yoga draws primarily from the following traditions:

  • Ashtanga yoga
  • Sivananda yoga

Sadhana yoga’s secondary influences include:

  • Iyengar yoga
  • Anasura yoga
  • Integral yoga
  • Kundalini yoga
  • Shamanic healing
  • Energetic healing arts such as Reiki, Tai Chi, and Chiqong.

We offer training in the five forms of Sadhana yoga:

  • Sadhana Vinyasa Flow
  • Sadhana Hatha Flow
  • Sadhana Gentle Flow
  • Sadhana Restorative Yoga
  • Sadhana Shamanic Yoga
Philosophical ApproachOur approach is contemporary and eclectic. We bring to life the ancient teachings of yoga through accessible spiritual lessons that draw upon many traditions. Our guiding texts include:

  • Patanjali’s Yoga Sutras
  • Bhagavad Gita
  • Upanishads
  • Laozi’s Tao Te Ching
  • Vedanta philosophy
  • Tantric Yoga philosophy
  • Modern spiritual teachings of Ekart Tolle, Dalai Lama, and others.

We also incorporate the following healing arts practices into our yoga and curriculum:

  • Reiki
  • Chiqong
  • Herbology
  • Yoga as medicine
  • Shamanic energetic healing
Yoga Teacher Training ProgramsSchoolYoga Institute offers yoga teacher training programs internationally, domestically, and online at the 200-hour and 500-hour RYT Certification Level.

Internationally, we offer month-long intensive trainings in these countries:

  • China
  • Tibet
  • Nicaragua
  • Guatemala
  • Samoa
  • Peru
  • Bolivia

Domestically, we are based on the East and West coasts of the U.S. where we offer six-month long training programs and regular yoga classes. Programs and classes can be found in these areas:

  • Bay Area, California
  • Central Valley, California
  • Monadnock Region, New Hampshire

We also offer home study yoga teacher training programs online.

SchoolYoga Institute is continually forwarding its intention to incorporate spiritual healing arts into yoga. Our vision is to evolve this work into a Healing Arts University in the near future.
SchoolYoga Institute is a Registered Yoga School (RYS) at 200 and at 500 levels with Yoga Alliance since 2002. We honor Yoga Alliances’s high standards for teacher preparation and have selected faculty with great experience and expertise for all areas of our program.
